Elena was a medallist in junior nationals in 1996 and soon found herself on her way from her hometown of Constata to the national training center in Deva.
She joined the national team in 1997 and was one of many gymnasts her age who were thought to be future stars in Romania.
Unfortunately, her appearance in two junior ITC's and the 1998 Jr. Euros wasn't enough to keep her in Deva. Sometime during 1999 head coach Octavian Belu kicked her off the team, and she returned to Farul Constata. |
