Emanuella first competed internationally at the 1998 Junior International Team Championships. At that meet she placed third with her team, and had the sixth highest all around total.
She competed nationally and internationally quite frequently that year, as she was one of Romania's top juniors, and still getting better.
In 1999, Emanuella went through several growth spurts, which caused back problems for her. These injuries kept her from reaching her potential, and ultimately ended her career. Her last recorded international meet was the 1999 ITC, where she placed fifth in the all around.
Although it is not known exactly what happened to Emanuella after her injuries, it is believed that she stayed at Deva throughout 1999, but returned home early last year, at only fifteen years old.
